The interviewer is not looking for any shortcomings in you that he might regret in the future. Remember, the interviewer does not know your previous manager or fellow employees, so make sure that you don't highlight any negative remarks of your past employer. Focus on the new opportunities and new challenges that stand in your way to your professional career.

Note - General Tips:

  • Try your best to refrain from negativity.
  • Keep your answer short. Response to around one or two sentences is considered best.
  • Do not make any negative remarks about your past or current supervisor, your co-workers, or the company you work for.
  • Highlight the opportunities and challenges this role will present.
  • Everyone wants to earn more but don't make a reason that you want to earn more money.
  • Be sure to describe your accomplishments and all the good things you've done for your current employer.
  • Support your answer with some positive results.

For the last two years I have been working for ABC Company as a Web Developer. I really enjoy working at my current job. Although it was a great learning experience and I enjoyed contributing to the team. However, there are few opportunities for advancement in my current job. Now, I’m looking for more responsibility with new and fresh challenges to keep my career continually moving in a forward direction.
